About the event
Inquiry is at the heart of meaning making, creativity, and art. In this workshop, we will share and explore ways in which your art practice, event, or project can be strengthened through an inquiry-based approach. We will dig into the purpose of using art as a form of data, how this approach can shift research towards community engagement, and simple tactics for data collection. This is an essential workshop for any artist or creative who desires to investigate how their practice can be applied to other fields and industries, including healthcare, affordable housing, education, or economic development.
Goal:
The goal of Arts-based Inquiry is to explore the purpose of using art as a form of data, how an inquiry-based approach can shift research towards community engagement, and simple tactics for data collection.
Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Discover how inquiry is already a part of your art or creative practice.
- Learn simple tactics to more intentionally structure inquiry into your current or next project or event as a way to collect information (data) from your audience or community.
- Connect arts-based inquiry to practices that help shift power towards collective knowledge generation and deeper community engagement.
