About the event
In this workshop we will explore the interrelated concepts of Community Engagement and Audience Development. We will share tactics and tools that not only get people to come to your event but also what it looks like to create a project or event that centers the community as partners, planners, participants and audience members.
Goal:
The goal of Community Engagement and Audience Development is to help us to discover the relationships we want and need to turn an interested public into community members, partners, advocates, planners, participants and audience members.
Outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
- Learn about different types of Community Engagement and what type best fits your project or event.
- Co-create strategies and language that help foster deeper community relations.
- Explore ways and means to connect your event or activities to your intended audience or community.
Community Engagement & Audience Development is Workshop 3 in a series of five personal, creative, and professional development workshops for Black artists, creatives, musicians, performers, dancers, designers, healers, organizers, educators, historians, and dreamers produced by the African American Arts and Culture Complex as part of their Season of Black Arts. Other workshops include: Cultivating Belonging (Mon, Sep 25, 4pm), Adaptive Culture Tending (Mon, Nov 13, 4:00pm), Arts-based Inquiry (Thur, Nov 16, 11am), and Story-based Reporting (Coming March 2024). Facilitation and curricular development is provided by Crystal Mason & Jason Wyman with Tree of Change.
